    NASD 2004 kits include a new video on conducting the screening interview with attendees at your NASD event. Clinical vignettes are provided to demonstrate how to interpret screening score results, provide feedback and assist with referrals.     Chinle Outpatient Treatment Center, a Top NASD 2003 Site, Reaches Out to Navajo Population

    By tailoring its NASD event to the specific needs of its patients, the Chinle Outpatient Facility has been able to use NASD as an effective tool in targeting their Navajo community, an at-risk population.

    Statistics indicate that Native Americans are unusually susceptible to alcohol abuse. At Chinle Outpatient Treatment Center in Chinle, Arizona, Bessie Tso has made NASD an essential component in her effort to find out why alcoholism has taken such a toll on the community.

    Military Helps Promote NASD

    Announcement: On January 27, 2004, training on NASD 2004 will be conducted at the San Diego Naval Medical Center, San Diego, California for military and civilian DoD personnel in the southern California area. Two 3-hour sessions have been scheduled, one in the morning, and one in the afternoon. A total of 100 attendees are anticipated. In addition, these training events will be broadcast via video-teleconferencing to 10 additional military sites located in the following states: Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Texas, Washington, California, and Hawaii. It is expected that 250 military personnel will observe the training from these sites.
