SOS Program Manager      

Screening for Mental Health (SMH), the leading national, non-profit organization devoted to mental health screening and education, is seeking a program manager for our youth suicide prevention program. The SOS Signs of Suicide Prevention Program is an evidence-based program that has been delivered in over 10,000 middle and high schools around the country. Screening for Mental Health partners with schools and youth-serving organizations to educate youth about the signs and symptoms of depression and provide universal depression screening for students.

Key Responsibilities:

Increase Adoption of SOS Program

  • Collaborate with marketing/business development to develop and implement recruitment plan for engaging new schools
  • Cultivate potential SOS Program adopters through conference presentations, webinar registrations, in-person trainings and events
  • Track legislative environment, develop priority list for states, and lead strategy for state-level outreach
  • Identify school/district priorities and develop targets accordingly

Manage SOS Program in Partner Schools

  • Develop and provide educational content to schools currently using SOS including webinars, resources, best practice tips
  • Engage schools by soliciting feedback, best practices, and additional lesson plans
  • Ensure schools continue to provide the program to students annually

Oversee Suicide Prevention Trainings and Trainers

  • Onboard, supervise and support contract trainers
  • Recruit and provide volunteer management to certified trainers
  • Collaborate with program director to update training based on feedback and new research
  • Work with marketing team to promote/recruit for trainings nationally
  • Provide technical support for states/district/agencies in their trainings and large-scale program rollouts
  • Conduct trainings locally and nationally

Partners/Donors/Funders

  • Manage all deliverables for grants/sponsors and ensure prompt reporting to partners
  • Collaborate with development to identify new partners

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, public health or related field
  • 5 years professional experience, preferably in a school setting or as a school partner
  • Experience partnering with schools to deliver clinical services, curricula, or other supports
  • Knowledgeable and comfortable articulating the mental health needs of youth
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Experience presenting at conferences and trainings, some travel required (10%)
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to give oral and written presentations at professional conferences and trainings
  • Strong organizational skill and the ability to work both independently and within a team setting
  • Experience managing and developing staff
  • Ability to collect and manage data, experience utilizing Salesforce preferred

Director of Research and Mental Health Screenings

SCREENING FOR MENTAL HEALTH, INC. (SMH), the leading national, nonprofit organization devoted to mental health screening and education, is seeking a Director Research and Mental Health Screenings to oversee and expand an online mental health screening program. Be part of a dynamic organization dedicated to the development, implementation and promotion of mental health education, screening and referral programs.

Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Research and Mental Health Screenings is responsible for the successful development, implementation and management of our mental health screening programs. The right candidate will bring excitement and clinical innovation to help an expanding organization be on the forefront of the use of technology in mental health prevention and intervention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a cross functional team to manage projects and develop programs within the organization
  • Provide thought leadership for the content, design and implementation of our online screening platform
  • Develop new relationships and maintain existing relationships with our partners (i.e. colleges, community-based orgs, EAP’s, state and local municipalities)
  • Develop program evaluation including data analysis and reporting and serve as a clinical resource for the organization
  • Serve as a primary investigator for the organization and lead collaboration with external evaluators
  • Stay up-to-date on trends in the mental health industry to identify needs for program enhancements and new programs.
  • Manage the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of a department
  • Represent the organization at national conferences and as a press spokesperson to advocate for mental health screenings and position the organization as a thought leader
  • Write and submit for publications in various local and national publications as well as peer-review journals
  • Direct and assist in the development of grant proposals and other fundraising activities to ensure growth and viability of programs
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications on program presentations and showcasing program value and outcomes to new and existing clients
  • Serve on the organizational leadership team collaborating to set direction and identify priorities across teams

Qualifications:

  • Interest in the use of technology in mental health
  • Knowledge and comfort with addressing mental health issues and the use of mental health screening assessment tools
  • Basic knowledge of procedures for conducting research
  • Experience working with data analysis, survey design and collection, and evaluation
  • Ability to coach and develop staff fostering a sense of cohesion within the department and across teams
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to give oral and written presentations at professional conferences and/or trainings
  • Detail oriented with the ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks
  • Master’s degree in Public Policy, Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or related field
  • 4-6 years of professional experience, preferably in a nonprofit or academic setting
  • Willingness to travel (5-10%) as a part of a national program
