Director of Research and Mental Health Screenings

SCREENING FOR MENTAL HEALTH, INC. (SMH), the leading national, nonprofit organization devoted to mental health screening and education, is seeking a Director Research and Mental Health Screenings to oversee and expand an online mental health screening program. Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Research and Mental Health Screenings is responsible for the successful development, implementation and management of our mental health screening programs. The right candidate will bring excitement and clinical innovation to help an expanding organization be on the forefront of the use of technology in mental health prevention and intervention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a cross functional team to manage projects and develop programs within the organization
  • Provide thought leadership for the content, design and implementation of our online screening platform
  • Develop new relationships and maintain existing relationships with our partners (i.e. colleges, community-based orgs, EAP’s, state and local municipalities)
  • Develop program evaluation including data analysis and reporting and serve as a clinical resource for the organization
  • Serve as a primary investigator for the organization and lead collaboration with external evaluators
  • Stay up-to-date on trends in the mental health industry to identify needs for program enhancements and new programs.
  • Manage the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of a department
  • Represent the organization at national conferences and as a press spokesperson to advocate for mental health screenings and position the organization as a thought leader
  • Write and submit for publications in various local and national publications as well as peer-review journals
  • Direct and assist in the development of grant proposals and other fundraising activities to ensure growth and viability of programs
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications on program presentations and showcasing program value and outcomes to new and existing clients
  • Serve on the organizational leadership team collaborating to set direction and identify priorities across teams

Qualifications:

  • Interest in the use of technology in mental health
  • Knowledge and comfort with addressing mental health issues and the use of mental health screening assessment tools
  • Basic knowledge of procedures for conducting research
  • Experience working with data analysis, survey design and collection, and evaluation
  • Ability to coach and develop staff fostering a sense of cohesion within the department and across teams
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to give oral and written presentations at professional conferences and/or trainings
  • Detail oriented with the ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks
  • Master’s degree in Public Policy, Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or related field
  • 4-6 years of professional experience, preferably in a nonprofit or academic setting
  • Willingness to travel (5-10%) as a part of a national program

Director, Business Development & Sales

(SMH), the leading national, non-profit organization devoted to suicide prevention and mental health screening and education, is seeking a Director of Business Development & Sales.  SMH is a technology savvy, not for profit enterprise that is an innovator and leader among national mental health organizations, providing mental health and substance abuse resources and linking those in need to quality treatment options.  The company has been in existence for 27 years, founded by Douglas Jacobs MD, a psychiatrist who is a leader in the field of suicide prevention and a vocal advocate for treating mental health on equal footing with physical health.

We are seeking a proven business development leader with experience building and leading successful sales teams. The individual will engage partner clients using a consultative sales approach to offer tailored solutions for their needs.  This individual will provide the vision and leadership necessary to develop a successful sales operations strategy, integrate internal teams, determine priority segments and devise a collaborative plan driving profitable revenue growth.

This newly created position reports to the CEO and will work collaboratively with the Directors of Outreach and Partnerships, Marketing, Clinical Program Development and Signs of Suicide Program Development to promote our programs nationally.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Recruit, hire, coach and develop a successful sales team
  • Develop and implement strategies to identify and close prospects for existing program offerings
  • Conduct outreach to existing partner clients and cross-sell additional program offerings
  • Problem solve and offer innovative solutions to partner clients
  • Leverage field time to better understand the partner client, learn and assess market trends, and provide input to internal stakeholders to improve program effectiveness
  • Work collaboratively with marketing and program development teams to help shape new program development
  • Sells programs ethically and in compliance with the company’s sales process, marketing strategy, and legal compliance
  • Maintain and update Salesforce.com including accounts, contact demographics, and opportunities to support pipeline management and accurate forecasting.
  • Some travel is required in this position.

Qualifications:

  • Proven sales management experience in pharmaceutical or consumer brands sales
  • Excellent prospect and relationship building skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor staff
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding the dynamics of the healthcare Industry a plus
  • Detail oriented with the ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks
  • Results-oriented, self-reliant, creative and highly resourceful in proposing new ideas/approaches and finding solutions that work
  • Proficiency in Salesforce.com
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education 6-8 years professional experience in sales with demonstrated ability to meet and exceed goals as well as leading a team to success
