Stress. Relief. Anxiety. Military wives experience different emotions while
their spouse is deployed. Many times, especially during a lengthy deployment,
these emotions can take a toll on their well-being.
According to a recent study in the New England Journal of Medicine, wives
of soldiers sent to war suffered significantly higher rates of mental health
issues than those whose husbands stayed home. The findings also showed rates
were higher among wives whose husband deployed longer than 11 months.
To help those who might be struggling, Military Pathways is offering a newly
revamped Family Resiliency Kit, designed to teach installations how to
help military family members recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health
problems, build resiliency, reconnect with children, and access behavioral
health services provided by the Department of Defense or Veterans Affairs.
Installations that register for the program will receive a FREE kit that
includes a variety of educational and promotional materials, including two
brand new resources this year: the “10 Things Military Teens Want You to Know”
toolkit and “My Story: Blogs by Four Military Teens.”
The Family Resiliency Kit is perfect for family support groups, chaplains, and
other groups helping military families throughout the deployment cycle. To get
more information about the Family Kit or to register, visit
