The critical need for depression screening has taken on new meaning this year amidst a spate of sobering and high profile stories spanning from students to military service members.
As we mark the 20th anniversary of National Depression Screening Day® (NDSD), we are setting an ambitious goal of getting one million screenings. We know this is no small task and we are adding many elements to our initiative this year to make it happen. And that is where you can help!
We hope you will join us to be part of a larger story, a great cause, and our ambitious goal! By registering to host National Depression Screening Day, your participation can change the way people think, feel and act about mental health in America.
To that end, we’ve launched a new event locator website called “Help Yourself Help Others,” which is online at www.HelpYourselfHelpOthers.org. The website will provide a central location to help direct the public to in-person events and/or online screenings in their area. We want your screening event listed! Once you register, if you provide us with your event(s) information, we will make sure it is listed.
With the spotlight of a national publicity campaign, the media will be writing, blogging and broadcasting the NDSD story and directing people to the NEW event locator website. In addition to fostering more screenings, we want to provide the media with stories of hope, loss, survival, second chances and opportunities afforded by your organization because you opened your doors and hosted an NDSD event and/or offered the online screening to people in your community.
The stories from the thousands of organizations who share our NDSD mission are meaningful and significant to us as we continue this important work with your help.
We want to hear from you. For more information or to register for your NDSD kit or online screening program, please visit our website www.mentalhealthscreening.org and download a registration brochure.
