Participate in the SOS Middle School Program to:

Proactively make efforts to decrease the incidence of undetected depression,
self-injury, suicide attempts, and the number of middle school age youth who
die by suicide

Increase the attitudes and knowledge among school staff, students, and their
parents about suicide and depression and how they are related.

Encourage individual help-seeking and help-seeking on behalf of a friend

Address the risk factors for self-injury and suicide

Engage parents and school staff as partners in prevention

Partner with community-based mental health providers and other community stake
holders to prevent youth suicide

Increase knowledge and confidence about accessing mental health services for
at-risk youth and their families

Reduce stigma associated with mental health problems

suicide, self-injury, and child psychiatry.
