The Body Positive, a non-profit eating disorders prevention organization, commissioned artist Birgit Gehrt to create “Alterations,” an art installation that explores the relationship between clothing and fashion and body image issues. The project consists of 15 clothing and accessories items transformed into sculptural garments, where each piece relates a story about identity, body image, and self esteem in contemporary culture.  “Alterations” is available to travel to college campuses year-round in order to provide a focal point from which workshops and discussion groups can be organized.  For more information about “Alterations” and other projects, contact Connie Sobczak, Executive Director at: The Body Positive, 2550 9th St., Suite 204B, Berkeley, CA 94710, Tel: 510.528.0101, www.thebodypositive.org , [email protected].
