Alcohol

  • More than 25,000 people have screened themselves for an alcohol problem in the last three years via the telephone and online screening programs
  • 47.7% score positive for an alcohol problem
  • Of those who score positive, 97.9% are not in treatment for an alcohol problem at the time of the screening
  • Almost half (48.14%) of individuals aged 18-25 score in the Harmful with Dependence range

Depression and Mood Disorders

  • More than 200,000 people have screened themselves for a mood disorder via the anonymous telephone or online screening since the program began in 1995
  • 57.1% score positive for depression, 17.7% score positive for bipolar disorder
  • Of those who score positive, 77.7% are not in treatment for depression, 91.1% are not in treatment for bipolar disorder at the time
  • Over a quarter (25.4%) of those between the ages of 18 and 25 indicate suicidal ideation

Anxiety Disorders

  • 69.4% of persons who took the anxiety screening scored positive for generalized anxiety disorder; 12.7% scored positive for post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Of those who scored positive, 86.9% were not in treatment for generalized anxiety disorder at the time, 93.2% were not in treatment for PTSD at the time

Eating Disorders

  • 44.1% score positive for an eating disorder
  • Of those who score positive, 97.5% are not in treatment for an eating disorder at the time of the screening
  • Over a quarter (26.8%) of men who take the screening, score positive
