NDSD Finishes 2006 with Nearly 450,000 Mental Health Screenings

Once NDSD 2006 activities conclude, nearly 450,000 mental health screenings will be completed by individuals at 8000 in-person and online sites.

NDSD Mental Health ScreeningTM sites were sponsored by hospitals, mental health centers, government agencies, social service agencies, advocacy organizations, colleges, primary care clinics, workplaces, and healthcare companies.

NDSD screenings include depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Much of the media surrounding the October screening day featured sleep disturbance and how it relates to several mental illnesses, especially depression and bipolar disorder.

SMH would like to thank the 2006 NDSD funding sponsors whose generosity made the program possible. Eli Lilly and Company, Eli Lilly and Company Foundation, Forest Laboratories, Inc., GlaxoSmithKline, Janssen, L.P., and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.
